Steven Brennan is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1990.

He originally practiced with Walsh, Micay and Company and later as a partner in the firm of Kravetsky, Hoeppner, Brennan. Mr. Brennan joined McJannet Rich in 1998 and practices in the areas of criminal and civil litigation, administrative law, employment law, wills, estates and trusts, as well as commercial and residential real estate.

Mr. Brennan has appeared as counsel in all levels of courts in the Province of Manitoba, and in the Province of Saskatchewan, the Province of Ontario, the Federal Court of Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada. Mr. Brennan has additional extensive experience appearing before various administrative boards, tribunals and panels. He has also been counsel in a wide range of regulatory and discipline/governance proceedings involving securities, commodities and a variety of licensed professions.

Steven is a past board member and Provincial Chair of the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada and served as National Treasurer of the charity from 2000 to 2002. He has taught as an instructor and sessional lecturer at the Red River Community College in the fields of criminal justice and constitutional law. He is active in a number of charitable, community and political organizations.

Ellen Fleishman is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1982.

Ms. Fleishman originally practiced with Breen & Breen and, in 1983, joined the law firm of Krawchuk Galanchuk, which later became known as Krawchuk Fleishman. In 1998, Ms. Fleishman joined McJannet Rich and continues to practice primarily in the area of family law, including collaborative practice and mediation, as well as real estate law, wills, estates and trusts.

Ms. Fleishman has appeared at all levels of courts in Manitoba and before numerous boards and tribunals. Since 1989, Ms. Fleishman has chaired hearings and written numerous decisions for the Mental Health Review Board. She is also a frequent media commentator on issues involving family law.

Ellen is active in the community and has served on a number of boards including the General Authority Board for Child and Family Services, Collaborative Practice Manitoba, Family Mediation Manitoba, Exploratus Ltd., the Combined Jewish Appeal Management Team, and Glendale Golf and Country Club.

John is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 2013.

Prior to the practice of law, John served as the City of Winnipeg Councilor for the Point Douglas ward between 1989 and 2002. He was subsequently involved in a number of business ventures and consulting engagements involving a host of issues, including property development, rezoning and variance.

John presently practices in the areas of municipal law, corporate and commercial law, and real estate, and he has had conduct of a number of residential school claims since he was called to the Bar.

Outside of law, John is the founder and president of the Westland Foundation, an organization committed to supporting inner Winnipeg youth in their educational pursuits. He has also served on the board of directors of a number of community and not-for-profit organizations.

Sam Sarbit is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1969.

While attending law school, he served as Vice-Stick of the Faculty of Law and Debating Chairman of the University of Manitoba. After graduation, Mr. Sarbit studied law at the London School of Economics in London, England, where he was also a lecturer in Criminology at Aylesbury College.

Upon his return to Winnipeg, Mr. Sarbit began his law career with Swystun, Garson and Associates. In 1972, he joined B. Stuart Parker, first as an associate and later as a partner, in the firm of Parker, Sarbit and Company. In 2003, Mr. Sarbit joined McJannet Rich, where he continues to practice. His preferred areas of practice are business law, real estate law, wills and estates, family law agreements and criminal law.

Sam has served as a CNIB board member, a political volunteer and a community centre coach. His involvement with the Philippine community is well-known. Sam was also a sessional lecturer in Criminology at the University of Winnipeg and an instructor in Business Law.

Jordan Smith is a graduate of both Brandon University and the University of Manitoba. She was called to the Manitoba Bar in 2015.

Prior to joining McJannet Rich, Jordan interned and articled with Legal Aid Manitoba where she focused on criminal law. Since her call to the Bar, Jordan has appeared before all levels of the Court in the Province of Manitoba as well as a variety of administrative tribunals.

Outside of the practice of law, Jordan’s interests include participating in Equestrian Show Jumping competitions and she is an avid member of the riding community. She is also active in a number of charitable, community and professional organizations.

Ron Zimmerman is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1962.

Mr. Zimmerman practiced for many years in partnership with his father, the late Norman Zimmerman, under the firm name of Zimmerman and Zimmerman. Following the passing of his father, he practiced in association with Arthur Wortzman for the period of 15 years. In 1998, he joined McJannet Rich.

Mr. Zimmerman operates a general practice with a particular focus in the areas of commercial and residential real estate, solicitors’ transactions, as well as wills and estates.

Ron was a founding member of the Jewish Historical Society of Western Canada in 1967 and has served as an advisory board member to the society for many years. He is also a past President of the Maple Leaf Curling Club.
